Almost exactly a month ago I blogged about my mixed feelings of excitement and trepidation because I was in the process of writing a short story which I hoped would be included in Off the KUF, an anthology of short fiction commissioned by the Kindle Users Forum. It is all very well working quietly along in you own world, doing the very best you can, but this was something that would need to stand beside some of the very best names in current Indie publishing.
Well today it happens, and Off the Kuf is published, thanks to the enormous hard work of the editor David Wailing and all the contributing authors. I feel proud, humbled and ever so slightly terrified to be included in Volume 1.
Yes, I did say Volume 1. So enthusiastic has been the response to the call for submissions, that Volume 2 will be along next month and Volume 3 in the spring. How awesome is that? But really that just sums up how important the Forum is. As I said before, the amount of support I have received far outways the amount of help I can give back, but hopefully my offering will say thank you in its own way.
The Forum goes far beyond being just a support or platform for writers; readers, too share their literary discoveries and passions. Not to mention technical advice on what thing best plugs in to what and where! Plus a healthy amount of silliness, too.
In my story, Integration I am very gently poking fun at the ex-pat community in France, and no, before you get worried, none of the characters are based on anybody I know! Well, not so you'd notice ...
So yes, this blog is a plug for the anthology, and for the forum which the proceeds will help to support. It is quite simple really, if you like reading, give it a go. There is, as they say, something for just about everyone.
