For next year I want to do something similar and did think about another bit of the garden or perhaps the vegetable garden from a different angle. A bit dull, really.
One of the big selling points about this patch of land when we were house hunting, or more accurately plot hunting was the view. We saw plenty of houses and plots with mountain views and quite a lot that were so far into the mountains the views were limited to a great slab of hill in front of us. Some had the chain of mountains from horizon to horizon, but here the view is framed by the valley in which we live.
We just miss out on seeing the Pic de Midi de Bigorre, the biggest peak in the area and where we ski; in the winter we can see the shoulder of the mountain through the trees on the hill opposite and the plot right next door has an uninterrupted view! Oh well, we have the Pic de Montaigu which is pretty iconic with its proper mountain triangular shape.
This photo was taken on the first day we saw the site. We were smitten! The plot slopes steeply down as you can tell from the view over our neighbour's roof. A south facing slope was another 'must have'.
Over the almost five years that we have been here I've taken umpteen photos of the Pic de Montaigu so this seems like the ideal project for a photographic record of the changing seasons.
Here are a few shots to the whet the appetite.
The first photo will be taken on Saturday 3rd January and on each Saturday through the year. Of course some will not show the mountain at all, as the valley is often filled with cloud and fog. Hopefully there won't be too many like that. Only time will tell.
